Working for an established MGA with a GWP of £100M + this exciting role sits within a team of seven technical underwriters. A Head Office type role that will require attendance in the London office 1 day a week. It would suit an experienced UK commercial underwriter who is technically confident and can assist with underwriting referrals and be involved in project work such as wording, question set reviews, assessing new scheme opportunities, rating reviews, account management etc. 

Ideally our clients are seeking an underwriter who has written Commercial Combined/Packages and Contractors experience. The role will also have responsibility for being involved in large claims and survey reports - ensuring that lesson are learnt / endorsements and better risk improvements are put in place to mitigate losses in the future.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:

• Minimum 10 years' experience as a Commercial Property and Casualty Underwriter
• Experience working in an MGA and/or managing delegated authority binding authorities
• Advanced understanding of insurance principals
• Understanding and appreciation of FCA guidance relating to TCF and Conduct Risk
• Experience of underwriting account performance management
• Experience in providing underwriting technical support and underwriting complex individual risks
• In depth technical knowledge of policy wordings, covers, rating and underwriting features across a broad range of Commercial exposures
• Effective analytical skills
• The ability to actively participate in tasks while also leading, taking responsibility and using own initiative
• Willingness to make decisions and take responsibility
